Organizado por meio de uma parceria entre o Hospital de Câncer de Barretos e o Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (Miami) – um dos 10 mais importantes centros oncológicos nos Estados Unidos, o I Encontro de Inovação em Oncologia, que acontece entre os dias 21 e 23 de fevereiro, pretende abordar temas atuais e inovadores envolvendo tanto a prevenção e rastreamento do câncer, como o tratamento oncológico e cuidados paliativos.

Aberto à comunidade acadêmica e oncológica, o evento visa promover discussões sobre o papel da Imunoterapia em câncer, métodos de rastreamento em todas as populações e como melhorar a assistência ao paciente oncológico, além de colocar em pauta a situação atual da educação médica e da carreira médica em oncologia. 

Estruturado para acontecer em duas cidades: Barretos-SP (21 e 22 de fevereiro) e Porto Velho-RO (23 de fevereiro), o intuito é também tratar, mais especificamente, o rastreamento de câncer em pacientes de difícil acesso, o papel da ancestralidade e genética no câncer e a prevenção e assistência oncológica na população indígena.
